Starting February 11, 2008, the Korean Consulate in Vancouver will accept a Self-
    Introductory CD to lessen the burden of face-to-face interviews for those who live 
    outside B.C. Therefore, non-B.C. residents such as those who live in AB, SK, Yukon, 
    NWT can either have a face to face interview at the Korean Consulate in Vancouver OR
    submit a Self-Introductory CD when applying for an E-2 Visa. After reviewing the visa 
    applicant's CD and application form, a Consul may contact the applicant for further   
    questions if necessary. Please note that the Korean Consulate in Vancouver will NOT 
    return this CD to the visa applicant. 
   
    Please follow directions regarding what to present on the CD and how to burn a CD.

    * Please note that a photocopy of an applicant's valid driver's license (front & back)
        and resume are required for all visa applicants submitting a Self-Introductory CD.

o Important Guideline for a Self-Introductory CD >  

     1. Make your CD in a bright location with a plain background.

    2. Make sure the CD has a label with your name and birth date. 

    3. Dress appropriately as if you are in an actual interview.

    4. Recommended length of CD is at least five minutes.

    5. Answers to all questions are needed for a complete assessment.

    6. Please present yourself in a professional manner as the CD is an 
        interview.

    7. Make sure you have checked the visual and sound quality of the CD.

    8. A self-introductory CD which does not follow the above guidelines will
        not be accepted and your CD will be returned to you.



o What to Present on a CD > 

This applies to E2 visa applicants who are submitting a Self-Introductory CD. Please provide all the information listed below on your CD (please 
answer in complete sentences).

1. Personal Info
     Full Name, Date of Birth, Place of Birth, Current Home Address, Current Occupation,   
     Passport Number, Expiry Date of Passport, Date of Obtaining Canadian Citizenship 
     and Date of Entry to Canada (for those who were born outside Canada only)

2. Employment Info

     Name of Hiring Company (Public School or Private Institute), Address, Teaching 
     Target (i.e. adults or children-elementary, middle, high school), Employer’s Name, 
     Recruiting Company or Source of Job Offer, Accommodation in Korea

3. Academic Info
     Full Name of Post-Secondary Schools Attended, Date of First Attending and Date of 
     Graduation, Major(s) and Minor(s), Courses Related to Education or Practicum(if 
     any), Teaching Experience (or Volunteer)

4. Criminal Record & Health Assessment

     History of Any Arrest or Conviction, Health History Including Infectious Diseases, 
     Serious Mental Disorder, Illegal Drug, Addiction to Alcohol, HIV, Smoking.. etc

5. About Korea
     Previous Visits to Korea (YY/MM/DD), Reason to Choose Korea, Any Knowledge of 
     Korean Culture or Language, Any Friend or Relative in Korea, Anything else you know
     about Korea

6. Other

    Strength and Weakness, Qualities that you have to become a good teacher, Other 
    Interests, Any Comment etc.



o How to burn a CD >
 

How to Burn video file to a CD

1. First, you need to tell Windows what video file you want copied to CD.
2. Open “My Computer”, then your “CD-RW” drive.
3. Now, drag and drop (or copy / paste) the video file you’ve created to the open 
    window. See picture below.

 

Note that when you drag, or copy these files, it only puts them on a list; it doesn't automatically start making the CD.

4. At this point you should have your video file to CD burner.
5. Place a blank (writable) CD into your drive, open “My Computer”, and then double-
    click the “CD-R/RW” drive. You should see your video file you've selected to burn.
6. Click the “Write these files to CD” and it will start Windows CD burning wizard. From 
    there, just follow the prompts. See picture below.




Note that if you accidentally stick a file on the list that you don't want on CD, you can remove it by right-clicking the file and selecting Delete. 

7. During the actual CD writing process, it's best not to mess with your computer.
